Food, Glorious Food!

Welcome! Last month Nutrition Australia, of which Adeona is a member, updated its iconic Healthy Eating Pyramid for the first time in 15 years in an effort to combat growing nutrition confusion and risky fad diets.  This newsletter will explore the new pyramid as well has offering some helpful tips to help ensure the whole family is enjoying a healthy and balanced diet.  This is especially important in the early years as the eating habits we instil in our children can often stay with them for a lifetime.

April Newsletter 2015

Winter is Coming.....

Welcome!  It's that time of year again when the days are getting shorter and mornings and evenings are getting cooler.  It is this time of year that we ask families to ensure they are sending their children in weather appropriate clothes, where layers can be added and removed as the temperture changes.  This is also a great time of year to ensure any spare clothes in your child's bag are also weather appropriate.  As always we ask that you ensure that all your children's belongings are named, including jumpers and socks.

It is also the time of year when preventing the spread of illness becomes a topic for discussion as winter is traditionally the time when colds and flus are prevalent, not just in childcare centres but in the community at large.  This newsletter we will examine some ways to protect your family from such illness and examine Adeona's policies around this.  We have also included a fact sheet about the common cold.

March 2015 Newsletter

The Year is Marching by.....

Welcome! We are already a quarter of the way through the year and 2015 is already proving to be an exciting one.  As the Easter break approaches we will be looking at travelling with small children and offering some handy ideas for keeping little ones amused during those long car trips.  We also examine why a play based curriculum is the most engaging and meaningful way for young children to learn and how the simplest of experiences are actually teaching foundation principles in mathematics, literacy, science and most importantly in social and emotional development.

As always we love to have your feedback on anything discussed in this newsletter or any issue relevant to your expereince at Adeona.  Please direct all your feedback to your Centre Director.

Settling In

Welcome!  By this time of year most of our families have started and are settling into new rooms at Adeona.  This is certainly an emotional, busy and exciting time for everyone involved.  Some children, especially those attending care for the first time, can experience seperation anxiety.    This is a very normal and developmentally appropriate behaviour and can often be worked through by educators and families collaborating together.  We have attached this month, an article on separation anxiety with some helpful tips on how to work with your child through this time.
